Serves 6 (1 serving is 1/2 cup and equals 1 yellow, 1 blue 1 tsp)
- 1 Cup Low Fat (1%) Milk
- 1 Cup Low Fat & Low Sodium Chicken Broth (free)
- 2 Tablespoons flour (either whole wheat, rice, almond, or any other fixed approved flour)
- 1 Cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese {the real stuff not the powder kind}
- 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder or (1 clove fresh garlic minced* see note at bottom)
- 1 tablespoon of organic butter
Instructions
- In a large pan add milk, chicken broth, and butter. Bring to a slow boil and slowly stir in flour and garlic powder until mixed well.
- Bring it down to a low boil and add in cheese and continue to stir until melted and mixed well with other ingredients.
- Serve over your choice of fixed approved pasta, veggies, and/or protein. **
*If you use the fresh garlic instead I would first take the butter and sauté the garlic in the pot as the first step. Then add the rest of the ingredients in step one.
** The containers per serving above only reflects the sauce (3/4 cup).
